On 19 November 2025, Prof. Dr. Lubna Ali Mohammed, Pro-Dean of the School of Education, Lincoln University College (LUC), delivered a distinguished lecture titled “Integrating Digital Literacy and Intercultural Communication in Vocational English” to the English Language lecturers of Nanyang Medical College, China.
Her lecture emphasized the necessity of integrating digital literacy and intercultural communication competencies within vocational English curricula. She also highlighted the risks associated with short or unclear digital messages in workplace communication, demonstrating how poor clarity can lead to errors, delays, and misunderstandings. Additionally, Prof. Lubna presented a sequenced set of authentic tasks designed to help lecturers achieve meaningful integration of language skills, digital engagement, and intercultural awareness in their classrooms.
The session further discussed how an effective vocational English curriculum can prepare graduates for industry demands by ensuring they are digitally literate, interculturally competent, and professionally ready. Prof. Lubna also shared practical strategies, real classroom examples, and activity models to support lecturers in enriching their teaching practices.
