School of Medicine MD Curriculum Review Workshop 2026

The School of Medicine, Lincoln University College successfully organized the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Curriculum Review Workshop 2026 on 6th February 2026 and 9th February 2026 at the Kelana Jaya Learning Site, Lincoln University College and the Clinical Campus, Kota Bharu, Lincoln University College. The School invited Dr. Mohd Nasri Bin Awang Besar from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) as the Curriculum Advisor for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme to review the programme’s curriculum in alignment with national standards and quality assurance requirements.

On 6th February 2026, the MD Curriculum Review commenced at the Kelana Jaya Learning Site, Lincoln University College for the Pre-Clinical phase. All lecturers for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme attended the meeting, together with the Dean of the School of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Zarina Binti Awang, Deputy Dean for Pre-Clinical, Prof. Dr. Suriyakala, and the Medical Educationist, Assist. Prof. Dr. Aishath Fazna Saleem. Student Representatives from Year 1 and Year 2 of MD also attended the meeting. The workshop agenda included an overview of Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF)-aligned Outcome-Based Education (OBE) principles, review and refinement of Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs), construction of single-verb, measurable and domain-aligned Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs), review of Table 4 to ensure alignment between CLOs, assessment methods and Student Learning Time (SLT), group discussions with module coordinators to strengthen horizontal and vertical integration, and consolidation of feedback and recommendations for validation and final endorsement.

On 9th February 2026, the MD Curriculum Review continued at the Clinical Campus, Kota Bharu for the Clinical phase. All lecturers, and HRPZ specialists attended the meeting, together with the Dean of the School of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Zarina Binti Awang, Deputy Dean for Clinical, Prof. Dr. M. Walid Hamwi, and the Medical Educationist, Assist. Prof. Dr. Aishath Fazna Saleem. Student Representatives from Year 3, Year 4, and Year 5 of MD also attended the meeting. The discussions focused on ensuring constructive alignment between clinical teaching, assessment strategies and programme outcomes, strengthening competency-based training components, and incorporating the Curriculum Advisor’s recommendations to enhance academic quality and continuous quality improvement (CQI) of the MD programme.

The School of Medicine expresses its sincere appreciation to Dr. Mohd Nasri Bin Awang Besar for his invaluable insights, guidance, and constructive recommendations throughout the MD Curriculum Review 2026. The comprehensive discussions and collaborative engagement between academic staff, students, and the Curriculum Advisor have significantly strengthened the alignment, integration, and quality of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme. The School remains committed to upholding national standards, enhancing outcome-based education practices, and continuously improving the curriculum to ensure the production of competent, ethical, and globally competitive medical graduates.
