REPORT ON IHYA RAMADAN 2025

The Ihya Ramadan 2025 program was organized as part of the Medic Eco Fair activities, which is the annual extracurricular activities for the Faculty of Medicine, and in conjunction with the month of Ramadan.  The motto “Nuturing the Soul, Healing the World”, aims to provide a platform for medical students to engage in spiritually enhancing activities while fostering a sense of community and healthy competition.

The program encompassed three main categories: Quran Recitation, Quran Hafadzan and Islamic Storytelling. The program was conducted in three sessions. First two sessions which were on the 15th and 22nd March 2025 were conducted on-line, while the third or the final session was conducted on the 25th March 2025, both on-line and face-to-face at the Kelana Jaya Campus. The hybrid format allowed for greater accessibility, ensuring participation from students and staffs across different locations.

The competition was opened to all medical students from both Kelana Jaya and Kota Bharu campuses. The judges for all the three categories were among the Faculty Lecturers and invited experts. In total, 12 students participated in Quran recitation, 6 students in Quran memorization and 5 students in Islamic story telling. An on-line quiz related to Islamic knowledge was also conducted throughout the three sessions. With the spirit of giving during Ramadan, the prizes and gifts were contributed by the faculty members. The faculty provided packed food for Iftar to all attendees on the 25th March 2025.

On the last session, Prof. Dr. Jasser Auda was invited as a guest speaker was invited to give talk on the topic “How to Apply Maqasid to the Medical Field”. The session was also attended by the Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Hajjah Bibi, who also acted as one of the Islamic storytelling judges. Also present were Lincoln University College CEO, Dato’ (Amb) Dr. Mohd Yusoff A. Bakar, Registrar, Mr. Mohd Nikmat Bin Wahib, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Datin Dr. Hafizah Che Hassan.

Finally, the Ihya Ramadan program was successfully conducted providing medical students with an opportunity to deepen their connection with Islamic teachings while participating in a meaningful and engaging competition. The program not only celebrated the the spirit of Ramadan but also reinforced the importance of Quranic knowledge and Islamic storytelling among future doctors.
