On 21st February 2025, the School of Education at Lincoln University College hosted an impactful online workshop titled “Crafting Research Proposals”. Conducted by Dr. Maarij Shakoor, the session ran from 12:00pm to 2:00pm via Microsoft Teams and was attended by students, educators, and novice researchers from diverse academic backgrounds.
The workshop aimed to demystify the process of writing compelling and well-structured research proposals. Dr. Maarij provided step-by-step guidance on how to:
- Identify a solid and researchable topic,
- Develop a coherent and persuasive proposal structure,
- Articulate clear objectives and research questions,
- Justify methodological choices and anticipate challenges,
- Align proposals with academic standards and funding expectations.
Interactive elements, including live discussions and Q&A sessions, made the workshop especially engaging. Dr. Maarij encouraged participants to bring forward their own research ideas for feedback, making the session highly practical and personalized. By the end of the two-hour session, participants left with a clearer understanding of the proposal-writing process, equipped with tools and strategies to approach academic research with more confidence and direction.
