Lecturer Exchange Series: Strengthening Academic Collaboration Between Malaysia and Indonesia

Lincoln University College (LUC), Malaysia, in collaboration with Universitas Mandala Waluya (UMW), Indonesia, successfully hosted the Lecturer Exchange Series on 6 August 2025 at the Auditorium, Wisma Lincoln.

Themed “Halal Product Authentication Analysis”, the session aimed to deepen knowledge-sharing and foster international collaboration in the field of pharmaceutical sciences, with a particular focus on the growing importance of halal certification in healthcare and product validation.

Special Guest of Honour
The event was graced by the presence of Dato’ (Amb) Dr. Mohd Yusoff A. Bakar, Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of Lincoln University College. In his opening remarks, Dato’ Yusoff emphasized the significance of global academic partnerships and the university’s commitment to supporting collaborative platforms that benefit students, educators, and institutions across borders.

Featured Guest Speaker
The highlight of the program was a guest lecture delivered by Apt. Firhani Anggriani Syafrie, M.Pharm, Sci, Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Universitas Mandala Waluya. Her presentation offered scientific insights into modern halal authentication techniques, including the use of ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, real-time PCR validation, and chemometric approaches to detect non-halal substances in pharmaceutical and food products.

Academic Engagement
The session was attended by a diverse audience comprising students, lecturers, researchers, and invited academic guests from multiple faculties. A live Q&A followed the presentation, allowing participants to engage directly with the speaker on technical and ethical aspects of halal product validation.

Appreciation & Acknowledgements
The event concluded with a virtual certificate presentation to the speaker, followed by group photos and networking. A special appreciation goes to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hazrina Hamid (Dean, School of Pharmacy & TCM), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sreemoy Kanti Das (Deputy Dean), and Madam Faiza Binti Naimat (Senior Lecturer) for leading the coordination of this academic exchange.
