Lincoln University College was honoured to host participants from the Zhejiang Chinese Medical University Postgraduate Exchange Program for an engaging academic session titled “Mushrooms in Biotechnology: From Nature to Modern Applications.”
The session was jointly delivered by Dr. Erlina Abdullah, Ms. Fatien, and Dr. Tan, who shared insights into the remarkable role of mushrooms in modern biotechnology and their growing significance across multiple industries.
Participants explored a wide range of topics, including mushroom biodiversity, cultivation techniques, and their applications in biotechnology, medicine, functional foods, and sustainable development. A special highlight of the session was the Split Gill Mushroom (Schizophyllum commune), where participants learned about schizophyllan, a valuable bioactive compound with promising biomedical, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications.
Beyond the lecture, students actively participated in discussions, demonstrations, and interactive learning activities, creating an engaging platform for academic exchange and knowledge sharing.
